July 11, 2013 – The Sacred Feminine in Native American Spirituality
Featuring Shirley Brim
Early Native American cultures often revered the feminine. Matriarchal cultures were common, where family’s property and inheritance followed the mother’s lineage. Their spiritual connection with the natural world (animism) gave natural reverence to the Mother as the source of all life. While animism saw the sacred in all of nature, rather than in god and goddess figures, strong women such as White Buffalo Calf Woman and Grandmother Spider are central figures in Native spiritual traditions.
White Buffalo Calf Woman was a spirit woman who came to the Lakota [Sioux], bringing the Seven Sacred Rituals and the sacred ceremonial pipe, which became the central spiritual teachings of the Sioux. She taught the People to respect the gift of the buffalo to provide food, clothing and tools, and taught them to love and respect the women and children.
Grandmother Spider weaves the web of life. When the universe was still so dark that not even shadows could be seen in the night, Grandmother Spider sat in her web in the Sky World, waiting and watching. No one knows how old Grandmother Spider is, or how long she sat waiting for the Universal Mind to awaken. But, every Creature Being who has ever lived knows her song and dance as the weaver of the Web of Life.
In the mythology of the Central Plains tribes, early indigenous cultures tended toward matriarchy and a more balanced culture between the masculine and feminine. The history of the feminine in Native American culture is quite different than in the British Isles and Europe, with much less oppression and marginalization of women until the arrival of Catholic missionaries and Christianity. As a result, the sacred feminine retained a position of honor and respect, and of balance, with the sacred masculine.
Come hear more about these and other aspects of the sacred feminine in Native American culture and spirituality.
Shirley Brim grew up in the Lutheran Christian tradition before setting out to find more open and inclusive expressions of spirituality. After exploring other Christian denominations and New Age spirituality, she found a deep personal connection to the natural world and a broader experience of spirit in the shamanic animism of indigenous Native American spirituality. She also finds important truth and balance in the teachings of the Buddha. Her spiritual practices include meditation, shamanic journeying and Buddhist practices.
Aug 8, 2013 – Reconnecting with the Starry Pleiades: Virgin Mothers of the World?
Featuring Margaret Rigoglioso
Founding Direct of Seven Sisters Mystery School
In this fascinating talk, Dr. Marguerite Rigoglioso will illuminate the ancient spiritual meaning of the Pleiades, the famous smudgy star cluster to which Orion’s belt points, where many peoples of the world feel they originated. To the Greeks and many others, these highly important stars were the Seven Sisters, virgin mothers of deities and kings. In the West, their stories speak of an astral history of female leadership and empowerment related to planet earth that was usurped. They were also called the “Atlantides” –– a name suggesting a connection with Atlantis –– and the Greeks believed they were associated with the founding of Troy.
The Pleiades bear lovely female names –– but who exactly were they? Why are people today so attracted to them –– some claiming to channel their wisdom or feeling they are “from there”? What is the untapped sacred female aspect of their story? What are the Pleiades saying to us today? Marguerite explores all this and more.
Marguerite Rigoglioso, Ph.D., is the founding director of Seven Sisters Mystery School, a scholar/practitioner of the ancient Mediterranean mystery traditions, and the author of The Cult of Divine Birth in Ancient Greece and Virgin Mother Goddesses of Antiquity, pioneering books that explore women’s shamanic abilities in a (r)evolutionary new light. Marguerite combines lifelong study of the religious history of the ancient Mediterranean world and beyond with her own spiritual growth work and intuitional skills, which have been developed through years of ceremonial practice as well as intensive study in the United States. Oct 10, 2013 – Art of Feminine Presence
Featuring Tenaya Asan
Personal Coach and License Teacher of The Art of Feminine Presence
In the pursuit of a career, or having to take care of so many people around them, many women disconnect from their feminine essence and their personal presence without realizing it. This affects everything.
When a woman turns on her feminine essence, her whole life is transformed. She becomes attractive, receptive, and open. When she walks into a room, everyone present basks in the glow of her feminine radiance. She does not need to project a powerful persona to attract the respect and attention she wants. Whether she wants an amazing career / business, a passionate partnership, or better health, doors open in through the magnetic qualities of the feminine essence.
In this workshop, you will learn simple ways to embody your feminine essence, turning on the radiance from the inside out so that you can feel the attractive feminine energy that can begin to change your life.
You will be introduced ways to:
- Increase your magnetism so that you can attract the attention you actually wants with less struggle
- Feel your attractive power so you can be in the flow of life, rather than always pushing to make things happen.
- Feel confident in any situation no matter who’s in the room or where you are
- Move past fear and self- consciousness, increasing your field of influence and perceived value.

Nov 7, 2013 – Gratitude Potluck
Come and celebrate the abundance of Mother Earth as we share in a bountiful smorgasbord of sacred food, ancestral traditions, and Goddesses of the Hearth & Home.
Through the storytelling and sharing of our family recipes, we will connect with the alchemical properties of food. Finally, we will do a collective Community Blessing as we partake of our meal of Generosity, Thanksgiving, and Ancestor Reverence.
Everyone is invited to prepare and bring a special family dish to share. This will be a true “potluck” so feel free to bring whatever calls to you. Please also bring a copy of your written recipe and any aligning story so we can compile these in an In Her Name collection of kitchen wisdom. This is a free event. All are welcome to bring non-perishable food items and monetary donations to place on our Community Altar for the San Mateo County Food Bank.
Dec 12, 2013 – The Divine Feminine has been Shipwrecked: Mary Magdalene, Walt Disney and the Little Mermaid
Featuring Christy Michaels
Gospel of Mary Magdalene
The Shipwreck of the Divine Feminine: Why did Walt Disney select this painting of Mary Magdalene as the “Treasure” found in the Little Mermaid?
You maybe surprised to discover why. In the first version of the movie, The Little Mermaid, Ariel with her red flowing hair (a Magdalene symbol) defies her patriarchal father who has forbidden her to find the “treasure” in the sunken ship. Buried in the deafening silence of the deep sea, Ariel raises up the “treasure” — the Georges de La Tour painting of Mary Magdalene.
Why is Mary Magdalene the “treasure”?
Why did Disney pick this particular painting out of all the renaissance paintings to choose from?
Walt Disney was trying to wake people up to know and understand that when the Pilgrim’s ships sailed over, the Goddess was shipwrecked. We are just now “discovering” her because of our collective growth in consciousness now has given us eyes to see—for those who choose to see. Her “discovery” however is key to our survival, if we can awaken in time.
There is much more to the story of this painting, which is a series of three. They point to her awakening? The actual full story of her awakening is missing. We suspect it may have been contained in the missing pages (1-6 plus more) from her gospel. Perhaps La Tour had a complete copy of her Gospel in his possession. A carefully study of all the symbols in the 3 paintings by La Tour seem to match the content of the missing pages in a channeling by Claire Nahmad and Margaret Bailey and as outlined in the steps of her awakening in the Gospel of Mary. I believe it was this awakening that set her apart from other women. Truly she is an enlightened woman. She is Mary of Magdala, the only woman who stands a lone, a woman of her own rite.
At the end of the slide show lecture, there will be a Q & a before we will take a break.
Group Meditative ritual experience (like a guided sound healing journey) of the steps outline in Mary’s awakening process as described in the book and painted in the paintings. Incorporated into the ritual will be an honoring to Lady Guadalupe and in preparation for the Magdalene meditation people will write their prayers for anything that is bothering them and offer them to Our Lady who has told us she is here for us. Then we will follow the steps the Magdalene took in her own journey within that gave her the inner knowledge “Gnosis” of the ALL.
Christy Michael, MA, has a Master’s degree from Goddard College in Clinical Psychology and did her thesis work on the impact of eastern religions on the growth of transformative psychotherapy in the west.In 2,000 she became passionate about the Divine Feminine with the discovery of the newly translated version of Gospel of Mary Magdalene by Professor Le Loup. She has traveled throughout England, Scotland and France studying and visiting the sacred site devoted to Mary Magdalene. Christy has studied with several scholars including Elizabeth Kelley who is an Ordained Priestess of the Holy Order of Mary Magdalene (which is an unbroken lineage with a documented paper trail going back to the first group of women Mary Magdalene ordained as a Priestess in the South of France who then ordained down through the ages as a secret order. One woman a year was elected for this sacred ordination and lineage.)
Christy was ordained as a Priestess by Elizabeth and Lady Olivia into the Lyceum of Sophia on 10-10-10. Something was sparked in her at that ordination. Within 2 weeks she had a vision of leading a ritual honoring the consciousness of Mother Mary for conceiving light and birthing an avatar. In a months time she was standing before a 100 people, leading a magical night of ritual and wonder, as if she had always been doing this. The visions keep coming and she is now a regular presenter of talks and sacred rituals at Unity in Marin. She offers a monthly book study on the Gospel of Mary. Learn more about her at her website: www.gospelofmarymagdalene.info.
She currently travels and lectures on the Gospel of Mary, taking on a Jungian exploration into the mysteries of this Gospel, exploring the teaching from a non-dualistic consciousness point of view, which she feels translator Jean- Yves Le Loup captured. She lives in Marin County, California.
